Slip away for three nights of island life and sun-soaked relaxation. The small Bahamian isle of Bimini offers a wealth of snorkeling and dive sites, from the underwater rock formation of Bimini Road to the vivid colors of Rainbow Reef. In Nassau, history takes center stage at the National Art Gallery and long-operating rum distilleries.

Beach, an old estate and wetlands, all within an hour
South Beach is twenty minutes away, its Art Deco buildings lined up along the sand. The same distance in another direction, Vizcaya is a different Miami: a historic house, formal gardens and Biscayne Bay right in front. The Everglades are an hour west — sawgrass marsh and mangroves, nothing like the city. June to November is hurricane season, and summer is hot and humid.

A small town on a small island, ringed by shallow sea
You come ashore at Alice Town on North Bimini, the main settlement; most of it is within five minutes' walk. The Dolphin House, a small museum built by hand by a local resident, is worth seeing for the building alone. The real subject here is the sea: Atlantic-side beaches and the shallow banks around the islands, ten minutes away. June to November is hurricane season.
- 03Fri, 11/19Key West, FloridaUnited States08:00–17:00
A wooden-house old town you can walk, and Hemingway lived here
Old Town is close to the landing, ten minutes away: wooden houses, lanes and civic buildings packed together, all walkable. The Ernest Hemingway Home and Museum, fifteen minutes away, is the house the writer lived in on the island. At the western tip is Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, twenty minutes away: a coastal fort and a beach. Summers are hot and humid, and June to November is hurricane season; December to April is drier and cooler.
